Condom Review: Durex Intense Sensations

I recently tried out the Durex Intense Sensations condom and here are my insights into this product. To begin with, let’s talk stats.

It is the same width throughout, meaning it’s non-contoured, and it measures in at a nominal width of 2 inches (which is a 4” circumference).

Lengthwise it is 8 inches long, which is pretty substantial for a condom which is not labeled or marketed as being “large.” Intense Sensations can certainly accommodate a prodigious man or it can be used on a large, smooth toy to enhance your textural experience, while still feeling what’s going on underneath the condom. This is especially true since this condom is particularly thin for a textured condom at only 0.0024” thick.

The texture consists of over 150 raised dots. These dots are placed like brickwork with alternating placements as opposed to being in graph paper-esque rows. This specialized dot placement adds to the sensations and intensifies the pleasure. I’ve felt a lot of textured condoms in the past (here are my favorites), and this one definitely does not skimp on the texture. However, they do not cover the entire condom, as the picture in the product description suggests. Perhaps they used to. Basically the only parts of the condom which do NOT have studs are the reservoir tip, a 1 inch strip directly underneath the head and the last 2 inches at the base of the condom.

Let’s explore the sensory experience of the condom. While looking at the Durex Intense Sensations condom, you’ll notice it is fairly translucent and is a natural latex color (not coral, like in the description). This condom is stretchy in nature, but it makes a crinkly sound when overstretched. I tasted this condom and while it wasn’t disgusting or putrid, it left my lips feeling less than sexy and had a bitter aftertaste. Add the studs to the mix and this condom is a no go for oral. On the other hand, the scent is incredibly agreeable. It smells exactly like Barbasol shaving cream, which is an aroma I genuinely enjoy.

Now, onto the lubricant. The water-based lube Durex brand used on this condom is less than desirable and the base of the condom was totally dry and powdery from the get go. You know what that means. Lots of additional lube is needed for these! I also found the lube in this Durex to be somewhat tacky and sticky over time, which certainly is not a great feature. The bottom line is, you are going to have to use the Durex Intense Sensations in conjunction with a high quality lubricant, like WET Ecstasy, for the best experience.

Final Verdict:

It feels, looks and smells great, but tastes bad and has very low quality lube. This seriously textured condom is great for an above average sized guy who isn’t afraid to add additional lube into the mix.
