Lube Review: Trustex Aloe Water-Based Lubricant Foil Packs

Aloe lubes are a great addition for almost any kind of sex, so I decided to take a look at Trustex Aloe Water-Based Lubricant Foil Packs.

trusexaloeheaderThe first thing any body-conscious consumer should be aware of is that this lube does have glycerin in it. As with many water-based lubes, glycerin is used as a thickening agent to keep the lubricant from becoming water, but it can be harmful when introduced to the delicate flora of the vagina.

Other than that, the ingredients are pretty body safe and all our listed on our lube ingredient guide. If you want a safer option, go for Blossom Organics. Both have aloe in them, but Blossom Organics is glycerin and paraben-free.

Personally, if I am going to use a water-based lubricant for anal sex, I’m going to go with one that has aloe vera in it. It’s smooth, it’s soothing, and it feels better than most water-based lubes. For this reason, it’s often featured in lubes meant for anal that don’t have numbing creams, like benzocaine or lidocaine in them. Pjur BackDoor Anal Glide and Comfort Spray are two such products.

This lube as a very aloe-y taste, which only comes natural with the name and ingredients. However, it DOES NOT come in the assorted Trustex Flavored Lube Foils which we also sell. The glycerin and stevia leaf extract lend a little more sweetness to this than what you would find in, say, natural aloe juice. Still, if you find other flavored lubes to be too candy-like or unappealing, this might be a good reprieve.

As far as scent, it has almost a perfume scent, but don’t worry. That’s just the aloe. There is no added fragrance to this lube.

beyondsevenaloefeaturedAre you a lube sommelier? Beyond Seven makes a condom that comes coated in aloe lubricant which I reviewed very recently, called, naturally, the Beyond Seven Aloe. It’s excellent, but if you find the lube on that condom drying up too quickly for your purposes, these two make an excellent pairing.

The only thing I wouldn’t really recommend this lube for is for manual sex. And the only reason is just that it doesn’t last particularly long. It’ll do the job for a period of time, but if you’re going long term, you may find that the 6 ml. in this package is simply not enough.

We only sell Trustex Aloe Water-Based Lubricant in foil packs, like Trustex’s other flavored lubes.  These packages are .20 oz/6 ml so they’re perfect for a one time use, or for mixing with another water or silicone-based lube to get that smooth, aloe comfort. This lube is also condom and toy-safe, so it should not interfere with other products.

If for some reason, you don’t use it all in one go, it’s perfectly safe to put it in a sealed Ziploc bag and save until your next interaction. But keep it confined to the same partner for hygiene reasons.

Final Verdict:

Even with the drawback of the glycerin, aloe vera always seems to turn sub-par lube into real quality, and Trustex Aloe Water-Based Lubricant Foil Packs really do the trick. If you have to go with a water-based lube for anal sex either because of your toy material or for any other reason, aloe is the way to go.
