Condom Review: Caution Wear Iron Grip

Caution Wear is a company based in the United States, and they’re one of the best. You may not have heard of them, but the Caution Wear Iron Grip is our best snugger fit condom. Period.

The Iron Grip is a traditional fit condom, which means that it’s straight, untextured, and has a reservoir tip at the end. It’s safe to use with any non-oil-based lubes (like water-based or silicone-based lubes). It’s mostly toy-friendly, too, although due to the fact that this thing comes sopping with silicone-based lube, you may want to be careful using it on silicone toys, especially if you don’t know the purity of the toy’s silicone.

And just so we’re square, Caution Wear recently underwent a label change. The label looks more professional, like in the images above and below. Personally, we think it’s a big improvement.

wrapper changeNow, 7.75″ (196.85 mm) long may not seem super snugger fit. But don’t be intimidated. We’ve said it time and again, but girth always trumps over length when it comes to what you should be looking for in terms of condom size. If a condom is too long, it will bunch up when you put it on. But if it’s too wide, you run the risk of having it fall off. And that’s no bueno.

The girth on this condom is 1.75″ (44.45 mm) un-stretched, which makes it the snuggest of all the snugger fit condoms that we carry. If you’re having trouble keeping condoms on, this is the one we are going to recommend if you contact us. Not just because it’s so snug, but because it’s a fantastic condom.

This is not one of the stretchier condoms out there. There’s a reason for that. It’s meant to fit those who have trouble keeping other condoms on, so it will adhere to the penis pretty well. Normally thinner condoms tend to be the stretchier ones, and while the Iron Grip is very thin (making it transfer both heat and feeling particularly well), it is still a little rigid. If you’re not sure if that’s going to be a good thing for you, you might want to try up a size, like the LifeStyles 3Sum.

Caution Wear only uses silicone-based lubricant on their condoms, which is pretty unusual for Western condom companies. But it’s only going to benefit you– silicone lube lasts longer than water-based lubes, feels softer, and it’s hypoallergenic. If you’ve had problems with allergies to lube in the past, you won’t have to worry about the lube on these condoms.

Another thing Caution Wear does so much better than other companies here in the States is their lack of latexy scent and taste. This is one of the cleanest condoms out there, which makes it not only perfect to use with a flavored lube (like my favorite, Swiss Navy Candy Cane) for oral sex, but also means your hands won’t carry that dreaded latex smell when you’re done applying it. Hallelujah!

Looking for a compatible erection ring? Kara recently reviewed the TitanMen Stretch-To-Fit Ring which fits over this condom like it was made for it. Give it a shot!

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Final Verdict:

There’s a very, very good reason the Caution Wear Iron Grip is consistently in our World’s Best Condoms Tin. And there’s a very, very good reason that it made our list of, “Best Condoms for Smaller Penises,” too. And why it’s in our Snugger Fit Sampler. It’s simply the best snugger fit condom.
